At this time of the year promoters are readying themselves for further excursions into The Jazz Festival.Indeed Sanremo has held theirs already (see report within).Once again arguments pro and con will be raised between more acts and more people and fewer acts and fewer people.

At these events the jazz fan will look in vain for one of those supreme moments and it could well be that the curiosity seeker has had his fill.None the less there is a sufficient audience in some centres to support these large undertakings and we wish them well.As The Jazz Festival takes its place in the regular jazz calendar it is to be hoped that the narrow front of talent presented in previous years will be expanded a little.

This month’s cover drawing of Franz Jackson is by John Walbridge. We would refer you to the review of the Franz Jackson All Stars album in this issue.
